About Us
The Dog Ranch, where dogs feel at home.
As we lead busy human lives, dogs get less and less time to do what they were bred to do. Dogs naturally want to sniff and explore their world. The right environment can be life-changing for your dog’s happiness and well-being! We wanted to create a place for dogs to be dogs in a safe environment with experienced handlers.
While in our care, your dog will have daily enrichment and attention. They will not stay in a tiny kennel all day with no interaction. We offer the opportunity to explore our property with our “sniffaris” to add to your dog’s experience. We live on-site and treat your dog like a member of our family. We send picture and video updates to keep you posted on their stay at the ranch. Kennels are cozy and comfortable with the goal of keeping stress levels as low as possible. There is no opportunity to fence fight due to the intentional setup and guests often comment how quiet it is.
Our ranch is different. We don’t do large play groups in small spaces and we customize the experience for the needs of each dog. Each day is structured to allow for plenty of rest, relaxation and fun! We take a limited number of dogs at a time. Traditional dog daycares (and dog parks) consistently can and do create behavioral problems, dog fights, bad habits and reactivity on leash. If you have questions about this and how this occurs, we are happy to explain further. Our goal is to reduce and prevent negative behaviors from happening by utilizing correct management. We love what we do and can’t wait to give your dog the “ranch dog” experience!

Passion and Experience
Dogs have been a part of Laura’s life since the beginning. Laura has been training dogs for over 16 years. She’s loved and cared for dogs since she was a child. The military originally brought Laura and her husband to Oklahoma where The Dog Ranch formed in 2024. We then received an opportunity to move back closer to family and now reside in Waynesville, OH as of 2026. Laura owns Carmel Dog Zone and Austin Dog Zone, both highly rated and established dog training companies out of state, that continue to help dogs and their families live in harmony. Laura’s goal is to improve the relationship you have with your dog through ethical training, management and mutual respect. Laura started The Dog Ranch because she believed there was a need to offer an alternative to traditional kennels.
